How to record on the platform.

You can record yourself directly via webcam or upload clips shot on your phone or tablet directly to the platform.

What you will need

A laptop, desktop computer or an Android phone.

Note - You can upload a video through an iPhone, but we haven't finished building in-platform recording.

You'll need to use Google Chrome as your browser.

Having a script or some points to follow will make the process easier.

You’ll need a linkYour project manager will email you a link. When you are ready to record the video, click on that link. If the link doesn't open in Chrome, you will need to copy and paste the link.

Step 2. Getting Started

When the link opens. You’ll see a screen like this.You will then need to fill in your name and then hit the Video Recorder button in the bottom left of the screen.

Grant access. You will get a pop up about access to your camera and microphone, and then you will need to click accept.

Sound advice.Make sure you're in a quiet area as your device's built-in microphone will be used.  If you think it will be too noisy, or there will be an echo, you will need to find another space to record.

In the light.Sit near a direct light source; close to the camera, but not too close. Make sure the primary light source isn't behind you, leaving your face in shadow.

We recommend filming from just above your waist to only a little bit over the top of your head, and you should be level with the camera.

The top of the screen should be level with your eye line; if you're using a laptop, place it atop something like a box or similar. Check your background - is there anything that you don't want the world to see? Aim for as little behind you as possible.


4. Camera Rolling

Take one.Once you're happy with the crop of the shot and what you're going to say, click the circle and begin recording. When you have finished recording, click on the square to stop filming.

5. Uploading

Time to commitWhen you're happy with the result, click the upload button. You will see the progress via the live bar. Remember that for most people upload speed is slower than download speed.

Step 6 - Next steps.

Your video has been uploaded to the platform has been received by your Project Manager.

To record another video, click the record button.
